3Dlabs Announces Wildcat II 5110G Graphics With Onboard Genlock and Multiview

Combines World's Fastest Graphics with Multisystem Display Synchronization

Sunnyvale, CA - October 18, 2001 - 3Dlabs®, Inc. Ltd. today announced the immediate availability of the Wildcat II 5110-G graphics accelerator with built-in Genlock and 3Dlabs Multiview support. The Wildcat II 5110-G augments the capabilities of the Wildcat II 5110-dubbed "the fastest graphics on the planet" by PC Magazine-to enable professionals to seamlessly integrate their graphics workstations into larger environments such as multi-system visual simulation environments, "video wall" visualization theaters, and video postproduction studios. The Wildcat II 5110-G is immediately available to qualified system integrators through the Wildcat Partner Program.
The Wildcat II 5110-G demonstrates our long-standing commitment to refining our products and drivers to directly target the needs of the professional marketplace, stated Raj Singh, executive vice president and general manager of 3Dlabs. By delivering onboard Genlock and Multiview on the Wildcat II 5110-G, 3Dlabs broadens the market reach of Wildcat graphics, while enhancing 3Dlabs' reputation as the Workstation Graphics Authority.

3Dlabs Wildcat II 5110-G augments the capabilities of the Wildcat product line, further extending 3Dlabs' eminent status in the high-end segment of the professional graphics market, said Sarang Ghatpande, Program Manager and Analyst at D.H. Brown Associates, Inc. The ability to synchronize buffer swaps and display refreshes is a crucial capability for multihead visual computing applications. When combined with trademark Wildcat features such as 3Dlabs SuperScene antialiasing, the Wildcat II 5110-G enables professionals to create intensely realistic environments for simulators and other visualization systems.

CG2 has worked closely with 3Dlabs to optimize our Mantis™ image generation software for the new 3Dlabs 5110-G graphics accelerator, said Barlow Blake, vice president of marketing at CG2. The integration of onboard Genlock and Multiview capabilities on a standalone graphics board puts the 5110-G in a class by itself in the industry, which is exactly the kind of innovation we've come to expect from 3Dlabs.

About Genlock and Multiview
Genlock enables one or more graphics cards-in one or more systems-to be locked to an external synchronization source. This enables graphics workstations to be connected to a house synch for video postproduction or visual simulation facilities.

3Dlabs Multiview works with the application to create a single "virtual canvas" when running the same application on multiple systems. Multiview prevents image "tearing" across the screens by sending signals between each linked workstation to synchronize the swapping of buffers and screen refreshes. Multiview can be used to create immersive, multi-monitor simulation environments.
