Canon Power Shot A460 Review

The Canon Power Shot A460 is power packed with great design, features and functionality that offers great pictures quality for entry level snapshot cameras. Powered with 5.0-mega-pixel resolution, a 4x optical zoom, and most of Canon’s trademark features of the Power Shot range, A460 is a camera designed to make digital photo shooting uncomplicated, memorable, and rewarding, the moment it is turned on. The Power Shot A460’s 5.0 mega pixel resolution imparts an impeccable depth and dimension to images. It captures the finest of details and amazingly true to life colors.

The sharpness and clarity of the images is unforgettable even when zoomed. It is an ultra compact, pocketsize digital camera with zoom and video modes and is affordably priced. It is easy to learn and operate. A460’s power up real quick and in between shots speed is real fast. The A460 can do away with the camera case as most of its parts are covered and protected except the LCD screen that may require some added protection. Therefore, it can be covered with a see through plastic screen protector to protect it against scratches

A460 is equipped with both the LCD and optical viewfinder for focus but the optical viewfinder does not display any information except for a green light indicating that it is on. But, the LCD focus mode displays useful information. The movie mode is powerful but the zoom works only with the highest video resolution (640 x 480). Besides, there is no dedicated zoom button. The Canon A460 lacks the image-stabilizing feature leaving a lot for photo shooters to work on. A460 focuses better and faster in the macro mode. The Super Macro capability in the manual mode of Canon A460 allows for extreme close up shots. It is easy to learn and extremely handy for indoor pictures.

The flash works reasonably fast and delivers optimum lighting in both sunshine and cloudy light conditions. However, the shots taken in poor light especially without flash may be disappointing. The A460 is not equipped with the auto-rotate feature that can save pictures in the portrait or landscape layout. The battery and SD card are accessible through a common outlet that can snap open with the slightest pressure and needs improvement.

Overall, it is a great camera from the Canon stable.
