The Canon Power Shot A640 is suited for both the amateur and professional photographers. It is lightweight and relatively small, but not compact enough to be referred as a pocket camera. The Canon’s enhanced “My Colors” mode allows photographers to experiment with various creative photo effects ones the pictures have been clicked and they can be directly accessed from the A640 itself. The photo shooters can also modify or touch up a specific color within an image to alter the look and feel of their picture. Another distinct feature with A640 is its flex-focus system. Many cameras these days work fairly well, but may still fall short of hitting the bull’s eye. They are unable to hit on the right focus point. With the flex system the photographers can clearly lay out which point to use. The A640 works wonderfully well in crowded rooms or in outdoor photography when the subject may not be the closest item within the focusing areas.
The macro, manual focus and flip screen features makes it stands apart among its peers. It allows for customization of various settings to suit the shooting conditions. The multiple “scene” modes make it easy for the beginners to adjust the presets according to requirements whereas the semi-auto and manual modes provides with ample options to the experienced users. The viewfinder is above average but it lacks the diopter adjustment. The memory card with A640 like all other Power shot models need an immediate replacement along with purchase because of its low storage capacity. The A640 has a plastic body and calls for careful handling. The LCD screen needs to be switched with optical viewfinder in glaring light. The control layout is neatly laid out for easy operation with few buttons to mess with. Overall, a good value for money proposition.
