The Canon PowerShot A630 is a moderately priced replacement over the immensely popular A620. It is equipped with a rotating 2.5 inch movable LCD display that allows users to choose from up to 21 preset shooting modes. The A630 model also incorporates the digital teleconverter for extra telephoto reach and the safety zoom for additional zoom magnification.

Its variangle LCD display is extremely helpful in assisting users to focus on subjects from different angles. The Power Shot A630 has an elongated battery life and bright screen display of colors on its LCD screen.

The interface is user friendly with scope for full manual settings to deliver high quality images. It also allows for manual focus and custom white balance for indoor photography. The controls are laid out in an easy to reach pattern but the alkaline batteries carry no warning signal of dying out.

The Canon Power Shot A630 slightly falls short on expectation for low light and night scene shooting. At higher ISO settings there is a lot of noise distortion. It also lacks the image stabilization feature that is quintessential for a snapshot camera. The lens is not equipped with a lens cover and there is no scope for attaching additional flash. There may also be some concerns with the weight aspect considering the fact that it falls in the category of compact point and click cameras.

The size too is a little bulky to exactly slide in the pocket and the colors are not as vibrant as other Power Shot models. Some of the auto settings may not serve the purpose well, especially the auto focus, but these can be manually adjusted. Though it is not exactly suited for professional photography but qualifies reasonably well for advanced photography.

The Power Shot A630 is moderately priced; feature rich, easy to use compact digital camera with few cons from the Canon stable and therefore enjoys a lot of popularity.
