Canon PowerShot Proseries S5

Powered with attractive features like 8-megapixels of resolution, 12x zoom lens with optical IS, 2.5-inch vari-angle LCD, excellent image quality, and fast performance, the S5 IS offers stiff competition in the super-zoom category. The 8-mega-pixel sensor captures great detail and the optical zoom is image stabilized to eliminate the blur from the images. Power Shot Pro S5 can click high-resolution images even at full frame rates. The external flash socket is a bit advance over the inbuilt flash. The S5’s picture quality is great both for indoor and outdoor shooting conditions. Outdoor photography is exceptional with the inbuilt AF system and high-quality Canon lens coupled with excellent exposure and color saturation. Various new features like the review histogram and over-exposure detect coupled with the rotating LCD allow for even those angled shots which otherwise would not have been possible to shoot. The sharpness, contrast, saturation, and color depth is variable and can be accessed by the Custom My Colors function. . The movie storage capacity has been upgraded to 4 GB. With a little less quality of images video shooters can double up the record time with the LP mode. Image noise is a very important factor when choosing a professional model where there is ample need of higher sensitivity settings. The noise levels are very low at sensitivity settings of ISO 80 and 100 and gradually increase to become a disappointment at ISO 800. The turn on and focus is fast but the focus doesn’t beep if it is unable to focus in poor light conditions. There may be some problems with red eye correction and purple fringes. The lens cap is delicate and requires careful handling.

ProSeries S5 is one of the cheapest cameras in the ProSeries category and fits well for those who cannot spend lavishly on expensive lenses but still want advanced photography options in a digital camera.
