Garmin Nuvi-660 Review

The Garmin Nuvi 660 is a shirt pocket sized widescreen leader of the pack. Similar to others in the Nuvi line, the 660 takes all the good features that make the Nuvi so great, and adds a few new features, as well.

The overall dimensions  of the Nuvi 660 measure 4.9 inches by 2.9 inches, and only .9 inches thick,  and it still weighs in at only 6.2 ounces, making it one of the best personal GPS devices in its class. The widescreen display is 4.3 inches and has a resolution of 480 by 272 pixels.

The 660 features an MP3 player and audio book player, as well as Bluetooth technology, making it compatible with your Bluetooth cell phone. If you happen to be navigating during a call, the voice directions are muted automatically until your call is finished. The sound quality with the Nuvi 660 is good, compared to others in the Nuvi line. There is also an FM transmitter so you can play music and receive navigation voice directions through your car radio.

As with all Nuvi’s the 660 comes preloaded with street maps, and points of interest, including hotels, restaurants, fuel stations, etc. You simply enter in your destination, and you get results in 2D or 3D maps with voice directions for turn by turn. It will even announce the exit and street names, so you can spend more time driving, and less time looking for street signs.

You can load custom points of interest, also, including school zones and safety cameras, and set alerts to warn you of upcoming speed traps. You also get three months of traffic data included. When there is a traffic incident on your route, you will be notified by an alert on the menu screen. If there is a traffic problem in your path, you can simply have the Nuvi 660 re-route you to go around it.

The satellite pick up is fast and accurate. Even if you miss your route, you can re-navigate within seconds and be back on the road in no time.

Rounding up the features is a rechargeable lithium ion battery that will last for up to 7 hours on one charge. Great for longer trips and vacations. And its ease of use and compact design make it perfect for any business or pleasure trip.

Overall, users are very satisfied with Garmin’s Nuvi 660. With its Bluetooth technology, slim design, MP3 player, and on the mark navigation, it’s a great GPS for the price.
