Sony Cyber Shot S650 Review

The Sony Cyber Shot S650 is a entry level snapshot camera for budding photographers. The outer body of Sony S650 is done in classic silver and the price is affordable for most. The DSC-S650 7.2-megapixel sensors combined with an on screen feature guide is extremely useful for beginners. S650 is lightweight, easy to use, with many shooting modes. The controls can be easily manipulated for customized settings. It is very compact and slides in pocket nice and easy.

The pictures can be easily downloaded to any PC with the help of USB port. The LCD screen surface is scratch resistant for durability. It does fall short of expectations on picture quality that appears to be marginal. S650 also does not host an optical viewfinder for assisted focus.

The Sony Cyber Shot S 650 hosts the alkaline battery with longer than average battery life. However, the battery case cover is easy to slide open with even a little pressure from the finger while taking pictures that can result in potential threat of losing the battery to the ground. It does not feature the digital zoom technology and the resultant images may appear to be darker.

Even, the LCD display screen is not as brightly lit in sunlight as with other models in similar price range. Besides, it is relatively smaller in size. The response is slow while taking pictures and though it does allow for video capture the quality and sound is a tad above average. There appears to be a shutter time lag with the flash and the lack of sharpness in the outdoor shots. The 24MB internal memory card of S650 is grossly inadequate for picture storage and needs replacement.

The Sony Cyber Shot S650 is recommended for novice photo shooters who want a great camera but do not want to shell out hundreds of dollars for the same.
